they’re stuck in traffic now

I have a JOB. I’ll be working with young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their group home(s) and work program. I go in on Monday to fill out all the HR paperwork. It looks like the timing might be a bit weird since I’ll be in Florida August 8-14, so I hope that’s okay. It’s a straight weekday job, first shift.

About autism, neurodiversity, and intersectionality

Autism is a category of neurodevelopmental disorders, commonly referred to as the "autism spectrum." People with autism often have difficulties in performing like neurotypical people in social interactions and communications, and often have stereotypied movements, interests, preferences, and ways of speaking. These are not inherently disabling, and sometimes are actually beneficial for us, but as society is not structured to our preferences, they can become disabling for many people on the spectrum. Neurodiversity is a submovement of disability rights seeking to treat all people with non-normative neurologies as equally worth of respect, participation in society, and acceptance. Intersectionality is when two or more -isms overlap, such as ableism and feminism, or racism and feminism. NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US.
